Tastings in the Cave
During the summer evenings, Monte Corchia offers the highest and coolest tastings in the entire Versilia region. On the terrace in front of the cave entrance, surrounded by the coolness and greenery of the mountains and overlooking the valley that slopes down to the sea, you can enjoy a selection of typical Versilia products accompanied by bottles of Cave Wine aged in the cave. There are three types of wine: Red, White, and Sparkling, coming from small artisanal wineries, stored for aging in a cellar carved into a stone niche inside the Antro del Corchia, more than a hundred meters inside the mountain.
TASTINGS
Evening tastings include:
- Visit of the tourist route of the Antro del Corchia;
- “Ipogeo” wine tasting, i.e. wine aged among the rocks of the Antro del Corchia;
- A rich selection of local products to accompany the tasting of Vino Ipogeo.
"IPOGEO" WINE
Hidden within the massive marble belly of Monte Corchia lies a small cellar, carved into a natural niche inside the cave, where a few hundred bottles of wine are placed each year for aging.
The wine, provided by small artisanal producers, is made from grapes cultivated at high altitudes on the maritime slopes of the Apuan Alps. After a period of aging in the cave, it takes on the name of “Cave Wine” or “Vino Ipogeo.”
